ABOUT US (continued...)
Provide Assistance to the Arlington Police Annual Awards Reception and provide funds for the payment of awards to police officers employed by the City. Such awards shall recognize efficiency, skill and devotion in providing for the public safety of the City and the reduction of the crime therein. The awards shall be granted to such police officers on the basis and excellence in the performance of his or her duties as determined pursuant to procedures and guidelines set forth the Arlington Police Department's Employee Relations Board and approved by the police chief.

Provide assistance to law enforcement families with hardship cases. The Foundation recognizes that there will be times when law enforcement personnel at the Arlington Police Department will suffer catastrophic events in their lives and will need financial help (i.e. serious auto injury, injury by fire, death, etc.). These events will be reviewed on a case by case basis. Requests generally go through the Arlington Police Chaplain to be approved by the police chief.

Promote and support research and development and innovation in law enforcement. When City funds are limited, The Foundation will assist to further the Arlington Police Department's goal to use innovative technology to maximize performance. This assistance may include purchasing technology or sending someone to training. This activity will occur as new technology becomes available and city and grant funds are not available. Requests would be initiated by the police research and development manager to be approved by the police chief.

Promote and support interaction between law enforcement and communities. The Foundation recognizes that continued development, using partnerships with the community to achieve a safer community, is essential. When city funds are limited, the Foundation will provide funds for effective communication between the community and law enforcement personnel (i.e. homeland security, community engagements, etc.). This activity will be conducted on an as-needed basis as current events occur. Arlington Police geographic deputy chiefs and their chain of command will conduct meetings.
